Purchasing a new heating system for you home can be a nerve racking task. Not only do you have to choose the type and model of furnace you want but you also have to choose from a slew of contractor as to who is best for the job. We’re here to make the process easier for you.
Your heating system is one of the biggest uses of energy in your home but it doesn’t have to be costly. A furnace’s performance is measured by its efficiency. The higher the efficiency the less energy it uses and the lower your energy bill.
Replacing an existing system
Like everything else in life, your furnace won’t last for ever, even if it did newer equipment is quieter and much more efficient that what you probably have in your basement now. If your furnace is more than 15 years old you may want to consider replacing it with a newer, higher efficiency model.
Buying a new furnace is not like buying any other appliance in your home. That’s because you can’t go to the local furnace showroom and buy one off the shelf. A contractor has to come to your home and evaluate your specific comfort needs to determine the type and size of furnace that’s right for your home.
Before giving you a quote to replace your furnace we’ll come out to your home at no charge, and take a look at your old system. We’ll bring a laptop and collect information like the type and amount of insulation, size, type and number of windows and doors, etc. Then we’ll do a computerized heat/loss calculation(also referred to as a “Manual J”) that will tell us precisely what size furnace will make your home comfortable. It is not uncommon to make ductwork recommendations depending on the age of your current system.
It is always important to do a heat/loss calculation before purchasing a new system. It is the only way to make sure the system is properly sized to your home’s environment. Any contractor that gives you a price estimate without performing the calculation is doing you a disservice. It has been our experience that most problems with new systems are directly related to mismatched or improperly sized equipment.
Once we have all information, we’ll provide you with several solutions to best meet your comfort needs and give you a competitive price for each. After you choose the solution that’s right for you, we’ll schedule a convenieng time for our installation team to remove your old system and install the new one. Throughout the new installation the process we’ll make sure your home remains as neat and clean as possible.
